The Algerian Azjar Tour agency, specialized in the Sahara, Ténéré and Tassili N’Ajjer deserts, is managed by El Housseini Ayoub, grandson of the famous Djebrine Machar, who co-discovered the rock engravings in the Tassili N’Ajjer National Park.

Azjar Tour is located in Djanet, at the heart of the Tassili N’Ajjer National Park, on the borders of the Ténéré desert and the Tassili plateaus.

The agency offers a range of tours (walking, trekking, camel ride, 4-wheel drive) for you to discover the Sahara, Hoggar and Ténéré deserts as well as the Tassili N’Ajjer plateaus and National Reserve, famous for their rock engravings registered as World Heritage by the UNESCO.

The Azjar Tour team

The Azjar Tour team opens the doors of the desert and the heart of Tuareg country to you by providing the skill of its team of guides, camel drivers, car drivers and cooks, who will all manage to make you discover “their” Sahara. These men, all native to the area, will proudly share the knowledge inherited from their ancestors as well as their personal experience; not to mention the knowledge acquired by some through their role in the Tassili N’Ajjer National Park, placed under UNESCO supervision.

Why Azjar Tour ?

In the Tuareg language, “AZJAR” or “AJJER” means “crossing.” The Djanet region, located between the Ferzan and Hoggar is named AZJAR because before the development of modern means of transportation, the Tuaregs used to move in caravans from Gadames in Lybia to Agadez in Niger, or to Timbuktu in Mali and back, by crossing the Algerian South. Perpetuating the tradition, the Azjar Tour team will therefore make you cross not only one of the world’s most surprising regions, but also a time of dreams and adventure .
